Organisations

Your People And Your Process

Two things decide whether a business runs well. Whether the work is designed properly, and whether the people doing it have anything left in the tank.

In Short

Resurgam provides three things to employers. Sessions and workshops for the people who manage, on what pressure does and what to do when they see it in somebody. The Pressure Audit, a stress risk assessment carried out against the six HSE Management Standards, producing a written and dated risk assessment and action plan. And the Operating Manual, which maps every role and handover in a business from first contact to delivery. Delivered by a clinically trained practitioner who built a construction and renewables business to £6m.

Somebody In Your Business Has Gone Quiet

You Could Name Them Without Thinking About It

There is somebody in your business who was good and is not at the moment, and you could name them right now.

Their manager could name them too. So could the two people who sit nearest them.

Nobody has said anything, and everybody has a reason why not. They are private. It might be something at home. It would be awkward. Somebody else has probably already asked.

That goes on for months. And by the time it becomes a conversation it is usually a sick note.

What This Addresses

Pressure Without Control Is What Breaks People

Process flow schematic, abstract

Karasek’s demand-control model, tested more than any other in occupational health, found something most owners already suspect. Pressure does not break people. Pressure without control breaks people. High demand alongside high control produces the best work anybody does.

Which means the answer to a workforce under strain is rarely to ask less of them. It is to change how the work is organised, who decides what, and whether anybody actually knows what they own.

That is why the three things I do for organisations are the same thing from different ends. One trains the people who notice it first. One finds it. One fixes what is causing it.

The Three Services

Where To Start

The Pressure Debrief and the workshops

Ninety minutes with the people who manage, on what sustained pressure does to sleep, judgement and behaviour, what it looks like from the outside in somebody else, and what a manager can usefully say. £750 on site. Half and full day workshops for teams and whole shifts, £1,500 and £2,750. Read more

The Pressure Audit

Six weeks. The HSE’s own validated survey across all staff, benchmarked nationally. Facilitated sessions run by somebody who is not their manager. A written and dated risk assessment against all six Management Standards, with a prioritised action plan. From £1,750. Read more

The Operating Manual

Every job and every handover, from the moment a call comes in to the moment the work leaves the building. The flow map and the desk cards, built with the people who do the work. From £2,750. Read more

Most people start with the debrief, because it is ninety minutes and it tells you whether there is something bigger going on. If there is, the audit finds it. If what the audit turns up is that nobody is quite sure who owns what, that is the manual.

What This Is Not

Not An Employee Assistance Programme

Resurgam is not an employee assistance programme and does not replace occupational health. Where somebody needs specialist care they are referred, and the route out is agreed in writing before I start rather than worked out afterwards.

Individual sessions stay confidential. No employer is ever told who attended what.
