Terms
The basis on which Resurgam works with you.
These terms set out how Resurgam works with clients: what the service is and is not, confidentiality and its limits, fees, cancellation, and complaints. Sessions are not recorded. No outcome is guaranteed. Where a client needs care outside the scope of this practice, they are referred.
Who You Are Contracting With
Services are provided by Jamie Gibbs trading as Resurgam, 72a Ridgeway, Plympton, Plymouth PL7 2AL.
Qualifications are stated on the Hypnosis page and are held as described. Resurgam holds professional indemnity and public liability insurance.
What The Service Is
Resurgam provides clinical hypnotherapy, coaching and related services to individuals and organisations.
It is not a substitute for medical or psychiatric care. It does not replace treatment from your GP, a psychiatrist, a psychologist, an audiologist or any other regulated health professional. If you are receiving such care, continue with it.
No outcome is guaranteed. Nothing in this work is a cure and nothing is removed. Hypnotherapy is a tool you use, and the change is yours. Any practitioner who guarantees an outcome in this field is overstating what is possible.
There are things outside the scope of this practice. Where a presenting issue falls outside what Resurgam does, or would be better dealt with by a medical or psychiatric service, you will be told at the first conversation and, where possible, pointed towards the right service.
What Is Expected Of You
That you disclose relevant medical conditions, current treatment and any medication before work begins, and tell Resurgam if these change. Some conditions and medications affect how this work is done, and a few mean it should not be done at all.
That you are honest about how the work is going. Progress is measured by numbers you set yourself, and those numbers are only useful if they are real.
That you are over 18. Clients under 18 are seen only with the written consent of a parent or guardian, and by prior arrangement.
Where A Company Pays For An Individual
Where a company pays for one-off executive work on behalf of an employee, the employee is the client. Session content and any written summary are confidential to the employee. The company receives confirmation of attendance only. This is agreed in writing before the session is booked.
Confidentiality, And Its Limits
What you say is confidential. Clinical notes are kept securely and encrypted, and are not shared with anybody without your consent.
There are three exceptions, and they are stated here rather than buried:
Risk to life. If there is a serious and immediate risk to you or to someone else, the relevant services may be contacted without your consent.
Legal obligation. Where a court order or a safeguarding duty requires disclosure.
Supervision. Like all practitioners, Resurgam discusses cases in professional supervision. This is a requirement of ethical practice and improves the work you receive. Clients are never identified by name in supervision.
Sessions are never recorded, by either party. Where recorded material is provided for you to use between sessions, that is prepared separately and is not a recording of your session.
Where an organisation pays for your sessions, that organisation is told nothing about what you discussed, whether you attended, or what was worked on. Employers receive aggregate and anonymous information only.
Fees And Payment
All fees are published on the Fees page.
Individual sessions are payable before the session, by bank transfer or card. Organisations are invoiced on standard terms.
Programmes are quoted as a whole rather than by the hour. Programmes are payable in full before the first session.
Fees may change, but never during a programme already agreed.
Moving Or Cancelling A Session
Twenty-four hours’ notice is required to move or cancel a session. Less than that and the session is charged.
That is not a penalty and it is not applied rigidly. If something has genuinely gone wrong in your week, say so and it will be sorted out. The rule exists because a booked hour cannot be given to anybody else at short notice.
Missed sessions without notice are charged in full.
Either party may end the work at any time. If the work is not helping, Resurgam will say so and stop rather than continue selling sessions. Equally, you may stop at any point without explanation. Where a programme has been paid for in advance and is ended early, the fee stands, because the time was reserved and cannot be given to anybody else at short notice. Where circumstances genuinely warrant it, a refund is a commercial decision made case by case.
Assessments, Reports, And Who Owns Them
Where Resurgam carries out a Pressure Audit, an Operating Manual or similar work, the scope, timetable and deliverables are agreed in writing before the work begins.
Assessments and reports are the client organisation’s property on completion and payment. They are not shared with anybody else.
Individual staff responses gathered during that work are anonymous and are reported only in aggregate. No employer is told who said what.
Reports and assessments are not legal advice, and do not guarantee compliance with any legal duty or protection against any claim or enforcement action.
The Recordings, And What You May Do With Them
Any recording provided, including the free recording on this site, is for your personal use. It is not to be shared, sold or published.
Never listen to a hypnotic or relaxation recording while driving or operating machinery.
If Something Goes Wrong
If something is wrong, say so directly. Most things can be dealt with in a conversation.
If that does not resolve it, put it in writing to the address above and you will receive a written response within fourteen days.
If you remain unsatisfied, a complaint can be made to the professional body Resurgam holds membership with, details of which are available on request.
What Resurgam Is And Is Not Liable For
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Otherwise, liability is limited to the fees paid for the service in question. Resurgam is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including loss of profit or business.
Which Law Applies
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
Changes
These terms were last updated on 3 August 2026. The terms in force are those published at the time your work begins.
